Kenya eTA Guide: Everything You Need to Know Before Your Safari

2026-10-14•2 min read

Planning a safari in Kenya? Most international travellers are required to obtain a Kenya Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) before departure. The eTA is a digital travel authorisation issued by the Government of Kenya and is required for most visitors, including children and infants, unless they qualify for an exemption.

Applying for Your Kenya eTA

The application is completed online before travel. To apply, you will typically need:

A valid passport A recent passport photograph Flight details Accommodation details Contact information A valid payment method

Additional documents may be required depending on the purpose of your visit.

Applications are often processed within a few working days, however travellers are encouraged to apply well in advance of departure.

Application Fee

The Kenya eTA application fee is US$30 per traveller.

Please note that additional payment processing fees may apply, with the final amount displayed during the online application process.

eTA Validity and Travel Planning

Your eTA is linked to the travel information submitted during your application and must be approved before travel. If your itinerary includes multiple destinations within East Africa, we recommend reviewing the latest entry requirements before departure.

Travel with Confidence From the sweeping plains of the Maasai Mara to the pristine beaches of the Kenyan coast, Kenya offers some of Africa's most rewarding travel experiences.

Securing your eTA is one of the first steps towards a seamless journey, allowing you to focus on the adventure ahead.
